Vilhelm Hammershøi, The Rowan Avenue at Snekkersten, 1906, The David Collection
March 1st to August 7th, 2016
The Collection of Danish Early Modern Art has for an extensive period vacated its usual rooms, giving the David Collection the opportunity to present a special display entitled Hammershøi – Lending and Borrowing, featuring only work by Vilhelm Hammershøi (1864-1916). Several of the museum’s own pieces by the famous painter have been lent out during the spring and summer to exhibitions in Denmark and abroad. As compensation, the museum has borrowed a number of Hammershøi paintings from Ordrupgaard Museum.
On March 4th, Ordrupgaard Museum will open the exhibition At Home With Hammershøi, showing works with a special connection to the apartment at Strandgade 30 in Copenhagen where the artist and his wife resided from 1898 to 1909. Paintings borrowed from the David Collection will also be on display, including Open Doors from 1905. Read about the exhibition here.
On August 17th, a special display will open, featuring the museum’s own collection of Hammerhøi’s paintings.

The special display is located on the 2nd floor.
